Reclaiming Breech Birth Workshop

The Reclaiming Breech Birth Workshop was designed to increase knowledge and skills around breech vaginal birth for Midwives, Doctors and Students with the intention to offer this course to rural and remote areas. As an endorsed midwife, Sasha has completed training with both Breech Without Borders (2022 & 2025) and Dr Stuart Fischbein (2024) and continues to maintain these skills at least twice a year attending simulation training with other midwives in her area. Since attending her first breech training in November 2022, Sasha has been supporting planned (and surprise) breech births at home and occasionally at hospital. Sasha has experience teaching vaginal breech birth to the local midwives on training days and facilitated a breech workshop at the Homebirth Australia Conference in 2024. Prior to becoming an endorsed midwife, Sasha was a student facilitator at her local public hospital as well as an antenatal educator within a private midwifery practice on the sunshine coast for 1.5years.

Sasha finds sharing the knowledge learned through her own experiences is rewarding and believes physiological breech birth should be understood by all especially those working in the birth space. If a woman chooses to birth her breech baby vaginally she should have access to the information and support she needs. As a midwife, Sasha believes it is our duty of care to ensure a woman has the right to choose how and where she births. 

 

What is involved in the Reclaiming Breech Birth Workshop?

The Reclaiming Breech Birth Workshop is a full day training from 9:00am – 4:30pm. Arrival and check in from 8:45am and finish by 4:30pm.

Morning and afternoon tea will be provided. BYO lunch.

The day will include the following:

 

• Check in and welcome.

• Antenatal education & management.

• Witnessing breech, fear verses trust.

• Understanding physiological breech birth.

• Determining deviations from physiological.

• Understanding the research.

• Supporting the woman – advocacy & documentation.

• After birth & what to expect.

• Simulation demonstration of breech manoeuvres.

• Simulation practice of manoeuvres & group discussions.

• Breech birth videos.

• Questions.

• Certificates and feedback forms.

How do I book?

​

Locations for this workshop is based on interest and numbers with a minimum of 10 required to go ahead and maximum of 20 to ensure adequate hands on simulation time. Please enquire via the CONTACT PAGE.

Once confirmed location and interest, the event will be created and tickets will be purchased via Eventbrite. Please note pricing does not include Eventbrite fees.

 

What if I need to cancel?

Ticket cancellation is up to 7 days prior to the event, after this time the fee is non-refundable. If you would still like to attend but unable due to birth attendance, you will have the opportunity to attend the next available workshop at no additional cost. Please note availability is limited.​
