KaHuna Massage
A polynesian massage encompassing a flowing movement using forearms, elbows and hands. KaHuna Massage is like a dance as the practitioner moves around the table ensuring continuous connection with the client. KaHuna can stimulate the flow of energy, synchronising the breath and heartbeat.
The 7 Principles of Huna: Ike~ The world is what you think it is. Kala~ There are no limits, everything is possible. Makia~ Energy flows where attention goes. Manawa~ Now is the moment of power. Aloha~ To love is to be happy. Mana~ Power comes from within. Pono~ Effectiveness is the measure of truth.
As a KaHuna Therapist, Sasha has completed Level 3 KaHuna Bodywork with founder and CEO of Mette’s Institute of Bodywork and Personal Development, Mette Sorenson. The training focused on not only the skills of how to give a KaHuna massage but also self-development and growth, offering the opportunity for Sasha to grow as a person as well as her intuition as a practitioner. This training has taught Sasha the importance of flowing with life and slowing down to observe.
What is involved in a KaHuna Massage?
KaHuna Massage is a full body massage where the practitioner uses their hands, forearms and elbows and moves around the table using a flowing style of movement whilst tuning to their breath and the client on the table.
The massage begins with the back of the body and includes the feet, head and bottom, followed by the front which includes belly, chest (optional) and face. Traditionally the receiver of a KaHuna Massage is naked with a sarong for modesty over the bottom and genital area. The breasts can be exposed with consent or if preferred a small towel can be placed over them during the massage, please be aware that having a towel placed over the breasts can interfere with the flow of the massage.
KaHuna Massage includes underbody massage and involves the use of oil (coconut) to allow the practitioners arms to move under the body on the legs, back and belly between the client and the massage table.
A KaHuna Massage can be 60min, 90min or 120min, the difference between these is the time that is spent on each body part.
If you have never had a KaHuna Massage before there may be more discussion before and after to assist you in understanding what to expect and the opportunity to debrief after if desired.
If you are receiving a massage in a clinic space, the room will be prepared prior to your arrival if you are receiving a massage within your home an extra 15mins prior and after to set up and pack down will be required. Please note it is ideal to have temperature control in the room as the table can be cold in winter. KaHuna Massage is offered to both men and women.
